There are lightly detailed entries, and a lot of the days are marked out. There are significantly fewer clippings than in most of his diaries with only one or two provided about the Masonic Lodge....

Scope and Contents 1940: A small red Marquette diary. The first few pages are about European countries declaring war. Oliver worked a lot of overtime this year, and had Lodge on Fridays. Clippings and the standard daily descriptions are included with a large focus on the rain. 1941: A small blue diary with green writing on the cover. There are very few entries in this one. Additionally, it is revealed that Oliver had coal powered heating, as he wrote of coal orders. Also, “OVP” is written in the back of the journal. 1945: A small black diary. Notable entries include: complications with Bill Preston from Traveler’s, cash accounts in front pages, the death of his wife, Ester, on August 31st (her obituary is included) as well as a note that September 24th would have been their 35th wedding anniversary, and a devastating ice storm in December that caused a state of emergency. Additionally, Oliver specifically notes that he did not eat after seven o’clock at night on multiple occasions...

Upon receiving these two large group photos, they were in a blue folder. On the back of each photo, the names of each woman were provided as well as where they are standing.
