Folder 2: Oliver's Diaries 1940-1943, 1940 - 1943
Scope and Contents
1940: A small red Marquette diary. The first few pages are about European countries declaring war. Oliver worked a lot of overtime this year, and had Lodge on Fridays. Clippings and the standard daily descriptions are included with a large focus on the rain.
1941: A small blue diary with green writing on the cover. There are very few entries in this one. WWII information is fairly detailed here. The diary was mainly used for appointments rather than accounting daily events. There are some clippings included and some important dates for Traveler’s inserted as well.
1942: A small green diary. On the first page is Oliver’s draft number for the war. His money records and cash accounts are in the beginning. He was light on entries, but included many clippings. He was part of the Capital Lodge. He made some drawings in this diary, and there is a page full of him practicing cursive.
1943: A small brown diary. The first section includes records of his cash accounts. The second section includes his daily activities and work descriptions in addition to birthday reminders, the daily weather, news clippings, and bond money reports.
