Folder 1: Oliver's Diaries 1936-1939, 1936 - 1939

 File — Box: 1, Folder: 1

Scope and Contents

1936: A small black Marquette diary. Oliver includes some drawings in addition to his short entries, and lots of the days are crossed out. There are mainly comments on weather and dinner activities. This diary is fairly empty.

1937: A small green diary that is very fragile. There are lightly detailed entries, and a lot of the days are marked out. There are significantly fewer clippings than in most of his diaries with only one or two provided about the Masonic Lodge.

1938: A small black Marquette dairy that has a strong musty smell. There are many of The Son’s of Saint George clippings, and Oliver’s entries continue to be weather focused. Some days are crossed out, and he appears to be less specific in this year. Also, the paper is discolored due to newspaper clippings.

1939: A small Marquette Junior blue diary. The diary begins with cash accounts and then transitions into a more detailed account of his everyday life. There are some death announcements and many newspaper clippings.
