This series consists of correspondence from General Henry S. Briggs, primarily to his wife and family during the war, as well a file of background information, as well as other correspondents. It is arranged alphabetically by correspondent's last name.

Scope and Contents From the Series: This box contains four diaries and journals related to prison life, service in the army, and a woman’s perspective on the Civil War and service with Mary J. Trumbull’s diary. They recall daily life of a Connecticut soldier, David A. Starr. It further contains the manuscript of Weston Ferris; a Connecticut soldier held in a prison in Andersonville and Belle Island, Georgia starting in 1863.
