Scope and Contents From the Series: This series contains logs and journals spanning the late 18th to mid 19th centuries, from ships in the British and U.S. navies. The earliest log recalls the travels of the Royal George to Madras and China, under the Command of Thomas Foxall from 1777 to 1779. Also notable in the series are logs from the H. M. S. Scope and Contents From the Series: This series includes personal journals of captains, crew, and one ship’s doctor spanning the 19th and 20th centuries. One journal by William Leverreth Hudson (1794-1862) recalls the travels of the U.S.S. Vincennes through Southeast Asia including Singapore, Borneo, Cape Town (South Africa), and the Island of St. Helena in 1842.
