Scope and Contents

1949: A black regular sized diary with the outer binding in great condition and the inner binding is falling apart. Betty wrote about her relationship with Bill in this journal. She wrote about going on dates to the movies, but the couple broke up on Betty’s 22nd birthday. They reunited a while later, and Bill proposed to Betty on Christmas. Additionally, a mini-envelope with a key was drawn on the diary.

1950: A back regular sized diary with the binding in great condition. Diary entries focus on wedding preparation, and life with Bill. Betty’s interests shift, she took a break from theatre and picked up canasta instead of bowling for her spare time. She and Bill both had car and dental trouble, but where happily married and went on a road-trip for their honeymoon. The couple also bought a house and saw Disney’s Cinderella in theatres. Betty wrote of voting Republican in the election on November 7th, and wrote her finals diary entry on December 8th. There are pictures of Betty included in the front of this journal, which were used for her engagement announcement.
