 File — Box: 1, Folder: 14

Scope and Contents

1947: Regular sized green diary with undone binding (very fragile). “This book is PRIVATE—Keep out” is written on the first page. The entries in this diary describe a busy year, Betty wrote “work all day and rehearse all night.” She wrote of the weather, a tooth-ache (which her father mentioned in his diary as well). There are clippings included in this diary as well.

1948: A regular sized brown diary with the binding in great condition. Betty, who lived with her parents details their health struggles, from a tumor removal for her mother, to her father’s memory loss and headaches. Betty was close with her parents, and her passages express care for them. Betty met Bill (the man who she would marry) and writes of her affection for him. Additionally, a dried flower and newspaper clippings were added to the diary.
