Scope and Contents

From the Series:

This series consists of family account books, Henry Barnard’s personal diaries, and journals spanning his life. Account books include bills and receipts, some from Barnard’s travel expenses acquired in 1830s and 1840s. Other receipts are related to lecture stipends given by Barnard from the same period. The subject matter of diaries varies from everyday reminders and notes to recollections of travel throughout England and Scotland during the 1830s. Series also contains notebooks and copybooks from Barnard’s school days as well as evidence of education in mathematics.
