OSS "Gobi" Map, unknown, presumed 1944
Scope and Contents
A large color map of Northern Italy bearing the name/title of “Organizzazione Resistenza Italiana: Missione O.S.S. ‘Gobi’”. In excellent condition except for some tearing along fold lines, fully unfolding not recommended. Documents in folder “Radio Stations - Northern Italy - Fall 1944” suggest that “Gobi” was somehow associated with S.I. radio station “Orange” in November 1944, possibly as its supply team/mission. “Orange” was described as being in the Val Pellice having “complete intelligence coverage of Piedmont through its agent chains”.
