Scope and Contents This collection contains nineteen pieces of correspondence written by Thomas Cole to Daniel Wadsworth (1771-1848) spanning the 1826-1832. Cole wrote to Wadsworth as an artist commissioned to paint works thus the subjects dealt with include the painting of Katerskill Falls (1826), and other works such as the Garden of Eden (1828) done for Wadsworth. Along with discussions of Cole's works from this period, one piece of correspondence from Florence, Italy expressing his desire to return home...
