Overview Odell Shepard (1884-1967), the Trinity College Goodwin Professor of English (1917-1946), served as Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut from 1940-1941. Shepard notably won the Pulitzer Prize in 1937 for his biography of A. Bronson Alcott, and also published numerous books of poetry and critical literature related to American Literature.
