This collection is open to the public and must be used in the John M.K. Davis Reading Room of the Watkinson Library, Trinity College Library, Hartford, Connecticut. Researchers must register and agree to copyright and privacy laws when using this collection.

Biographical / Historical

The collection of Sound Recording Catalogs in the Watkinson Library cover a period of over forty years, from 1910 to 1956. Most of the major labels are represented in both annual and monthly issues. A partial list of labels whose catalogs are represented in this collection are Brunswick, Columbia, Decca, Edison, Emerson (seven-inch disk, ca. 1916—1919), London, Pathe, & Victor/RCA Victor. There are also several weekly lists of releases by Victor Records from 1924 and a single Orthophonic catalog from 1927 (Orthophonic recordings were produced 1925-1929). There are also several undated Blue Amberol cylinder recording tags (from recordings # 1508 & 2362).

Along with this collection is an undated manual for the Victor Victrola XVI (the Victor Victrola XVI was produced from 1906-1921).
