Story, Alf[re]d T[homas]. H.L.S. to Messrs Roberts Bros. 30 Dec 1886, Savage Club, Savage Strand, London, Eng. 2 conjugate leaves. An inquiry into whether Roberts Brothers would like to publish an American edition of Story’s novel Fifine which was being published in London. He also sent the novel proofs to them for perusal.

Thorne, Adela Page. H.L.S. to Messrs. Roberts Bros. 9 Mar 1892, St. Louis, Mo. 5 leaves. A request to have Roberts Brothers examine her manuscript The Red Aristocrat along with a lengthy summary of the plot, and then a small paragraph about Page’s background as a middle class woman. Note on manuscript says “will examine it.”

Todd, M[abel] L[oomis]. H.L.S. to Mr. [Eugene] Hardy [Roberts Bros. Assistant]. 3 Apr 1896, Amherst, [Mass.]. 2 conjugate leaves. Letter detailing the address changes of Mr. and Mrs. Todd for the next six months (it seems to be a trip westward to Japan). Also some discussion of the title-page and cover of “Sonnets.”

Wallace, Susan E. H.L.S. to Roberts Brothers. 27 Aug 1884, Crawfordsville, Indiana. 2 conjugate leaves. Letter to tell Roberts Brothers to expect Wallace’s papers of The Land of the Pueblos for possible publication. If not published, she wants them sent back.

Wallace, Susan E. H.L.S. to Roberts Brothers. 17 Jan 1898, Crawfordsville, Indiana. 2 conjugate leaves. Wallace wishes to send a piece of fiction by her neighbor A Soldier’s Fireside Stories for possible publication by Roberts Brothers.

Ward, May Alden. H.L.S. to Messrs. Roberts Brothers. 6 Feb 1884, Mechanicsburg, Ohio. 2 leaves. Letter about sending a translation of Michelet’s Renaissance for possible publication.

Accompanied by Holograph “Printed Page 435” [from Wormeley’s translation of Honore de Balzac’s The Lesser Bourgeoisie]. [1896], s.l. 2 leaves. Description of the technical final touches for the publication of Wormeley’s translation of Balzac’s The Lesser Bourgeoisie.
