Scope and Contents
Album 7 1/2" x 9" bound in 3/4 leather and marbled boards with marbled endpapers. Frond cover detatched. 72 leaves remaining bound in. Paper varies in color (white, cream, tan, and grey)and most leaves were not used.

First leaf of album: Full page pen and ink drawing of closed door, inscribed "Ellen Parkes 1826"
Leaf 2 (both sides): Hand-written poem of dedication presumably to Ellen Harper Parkes, signed "Sarah Parkes Febry 8th, 1826"
Leaves 5-7. Three hand-written poems by "Miss Barbauld" entitled "Enigma to the Ladies", "Riddle" and "Logogriph". [A logogriph is a puzzle involving anagrams, especially one in which a number of words that can be spelled using a group of letters are to be identified from their synonyms introduced into a set of verses.]
Miss Barbauld was Anna Laetitia Barbauld (1743-1825) a prominent English poet, essayist, critic, editor and author of children's literature.
These manuscripts were probably copied from The Works of Anna Laetitia Barbauld With a Memoir, by Lucy Aikin. in two volumes. London: 1825.
Leaf 10: Kenilworth Cottage, a pen and ink drawing 6 3/4" x 4 3/4" formerly mounted to the page, and a separate caption remaining mounted.
Leaf 12: Handwritten inscription "Chineze Ship", illustration lacking. Also many other pages with slits created to mount small cards with sketches, now loose and described separately.
