Concerning compensation due Shattuck for the loss of his schooner Mercator and its cargo. The Mercator was detained in 1800 by Lt. Malay, commander of the U.S. vessel of war Experiment, and captured by a British privateer while in Malay's custody. Includes correspondence from William Pinkney, attorney general of the United States.
