Scope and Contents
1. Typescript letter from Horace G. Wadlin, Librarian, Boston Public Library to Frank B. Gay, Librarian, Watkinson Library, July 30, 1915, requesting information related to an imperfect almanac in their collection attributed first to John Danforth, and later John Foster, 1679. Watkinson had an apparently complete copy, and Wadlin requested collation between the two copies. 2. Photographic Reproduction of and almanac "Hemeroscopeion", London: 1652. The attached card attributes prior ownership to Jasper Gunn, a resident of Hartford 1655-56 and Milford thereafter. 3. Letter from Milton Drake to Miss Ruth Kerr, 6 September, 1959, requesting an inventory of the Watkinson's holdings of almanacs as part of the creation of a bibliographical check-list and census of Almanacs of the United States, 1639-1875. Mutual correspondence continued through April 16, 1962 between Drake (4 letters) and Marian Clarke (2 letters. 4. Typescript carbon copies of lists of almanacs held by the Watkinson as of April 8, 1960; with additions on April 25, 1960; August 3, 1960; August 17, 1960 an April 16, 1962. 5. Photocopy of newsletter [ND] from the American Antiquarian Society regarding their almanacs.
