Greig, William (surveyor) Survey of the Duties on Male Servants Arisen in the Shire of Fofar [Scotland] from 25th March, 1779 to 25th March, 1780., 1781-02-26

 File — Folder: 18

Scope and Contents

Folio, 6pp. Labeled as a copy, apparently taken from an original book of taxes that is no longer part of the series held by "Scotland's Places." The largest male household was that of Earl of Panmure [General William Maule, 1700-1782], who, it turned out, was the last of his line. The tax on Male Servants was one of many similar taxes on the possessions (people, animals and objects)of wealthy households.
