Hale, Sarah J. ALS to Frances S. Osgood Philadelphia, November 25, 1849, 1849-11-25
Scope and Contents
Hale, author and long-time editor of Godey's Lady's Book, requests that Osgood write "two prose articles - stories of sketches" for the Lady's Book of 1850 and offers to pay $25 for each upon receipt. Osgood, well-known in her day as a poet and author, is best remembered today for her relationship with Edgar Allan Poe. Osgood, already ill with tuberculosis, died on May 12, 1850, leaving Hale's request unfulfilled.
