Scope and Contents

This series consists of a large volume of correspondence from and to John Hubbard Watkinson (1807-1891); son of John Revell Watkinson (1779-1836) and Hannah Hubbard Watkinson (1783-1850). Also contained in the series are circulars, financial statements, and other related miscellaneous documents, primarily from banks and investments in the region. Correspondence span 1852-1870, as do other documents.

Arrangement

Series is arranged into three subseries: correspondence from Watkinson (I), to Watkinson (II), and financial and miscellaneous documents (III). Subseries II also contains one file of correspondence addressed to Catherine Watkinson (wife), and one file with correspondence addressed to neither Watkinson or his immediate family.

Subseries I and II are arranged chronologically by years, and alphabetically by last name of correspondent with John Hubbard Watkinson.
