This collection contains correspondence, family genealogies, deeds for property, military orders, records from estates, military service, and writs and summons spanning the early 19th century through the 1860s. A number of correspondence exist between the women in the family such as Martha, Cynthia, Jane, and Lydia Skinner, as well as the brothers Luke Thrall and Walter Thrall regarding transactions and business. Martha Thrall recalls life in Indiana after settling there in the 1830s, describing the hardships of pioneering to her sister, Jane Thrall, and her mother, Lydia Skinner Thrall. It further contains one file of poems written by members of the family regarding faith and death.
