This series contains primarily correspondence and other accompanying files related to author publications, education for the deaf in the 19th century with Thomas Gallaudet, as well as correspondence addressed to Frederic Penfield who served as consul general of Egypt during the 1890s. Letters from Samuel Clemens span the 1890s and relate to publishing, the death of prominent figures in Hartford, while traveling abroad in Vienna (Aus.), and England.
