Series II: Ainslie-Mentalembert Papers, 1763 - 1894
Scope and Contents
Series contains business and legal documents related to Ainslie-Mentalembert relating to Countess Mentalembert, and George Ainslie's last will and testament in 1767. Other business documents and correspondence trace the history of the Ainslie-Mentalembert family. Series contains a genealogical chart from 1894.
It further includes numerous manuscripts from Scott, including portions of manuscripts, addendums, and speeches made by Scott, notably, one essay deals with the Church's perspective on acting. The series also contains a bound, holographic manuscript entitled Geoffrey of Monmouth written by Walter Scott.
