Series contains 77 correspondence written by Walter Scott addressed to Gordon Craig, Joseph Hume, and other members of the nobility spanning 1795-1831 and dealing with topics such as health, Abbotsford (his estate), and his writing and intellectual endeavors. It further contains correspondence from Anne Scott, Walter Scott's daughter, addressed to William Cowper, spanning 1830-1832. The 11 letters recall Anne Scott's daily activities, and arrangements made around the time of her father's death. It further contains correspondence between balladier and antiquarian Charles Kirkpatrick Sharpe with prominent figures such as the Duke of Buccleugh, and others affiliated with Edinburgh's intellectual and religious life, as well as some correspondence addressed to his father, Charles Sharpe, from the late 1770s.
