Scope and Contents

The series contains correspondence addressed to Herbert Keightley Job spanning the late 19th century and into the early 20th century, and primarily pertains to Job's activities as an ornithologist in correspondence with other bird watchers, notably Francis H. Allen, William L. Baily, A.C. Bent, and Louis B. Bishop who all studied birds in Massachusetts and Connecticut. The series further includes correspondence from publishing companies such as Houghton, Mifflin and Company, as well as Doubleday regarding Job's publications. Job also corresponded with several magazines such as Cosmopolitan, the Congregationalist, and Country Calendar.
