Scope and Contents

This series consists of notebooks related to Herbert Keightley Job's work as an ornithologist, as well as some miscellaneous notebooks by other creators. Notebooks on ornithology span the late 19th century and early 20th, and go into detail about Job's bird watching observations in Bentreville, Massachusetts, and his travels in the Dakotas between 1898 to 1900. Other notebooks contain diaries and note entries that detail his trip to the Florida Keys in 1903=1904, North Carolina in 1904, and Manitoba, Canada in 1912. Job's first diary with notes of his work is dates from 1870.

The series further includes a memoir on Mary R. Curtis, conveying her vacations and last days before she committed suicide, written by an unknown author, along with some photographs of Mary R. Curtis. Another notebook contains lessons about the Bible and applications of religion to the real world, containing newspaper clippings and other graphic images.
