Scope and Contents
This series contains miscellaneous correspondence, notebooks, and journals written by members of the Watkinson family including the children of Samuel Watkinson Sr. (1745-1816): Jane Watkinson Gill (1785-1859), Mary Watkinson Perkins (1769-1840), Robert Watkinson (1786-1874), and William Watkinson (1779-1852). One journal by Robert and Sarah Watkinson details a trip to Maine and White Mountains taken in 1830. IIt further contains several pieces of correspondence, wills, legal, and financial documents created by Watkinson’s grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. This series also comprises family portraits done in oil and charcoal of Robert Watkinson (1786-1874) and his wife Maria Champion Watkinson (1791-1874), David Watkinson (1778-1857), and James Hancock Wells, husband of Anne Watkinson Wells (1781-1836). Series is arranged by material type.
