Docketed business correspondence: James Hart, Jacob Pledger, 1796 - 1798
Scope and Contents
This series contains correspondence, as well as several journals, and financial documents relating to Samuel Watkinson, Jr. (1773-1798). Watkinson, who died in the yellow fever epidemic in 1798, wrote to business associates, including his father’s associate in England, William Meeking Jr., during the years of 1795 to 1798. He also corresponded with his brother, John Revell Watkinson (1772-1836), and his father Samuel Watkinson Sr. (1745-1816) on topics involving business and farming where Watkinson Sr. urges his son not to pursue farming, but trade and business instead. Series is arranged by material type.
