Algiers, 1856
Scope and Contents
This series contains logs and journals spanning the late 18th to mid 19th centuries, from ships in the British and U.S. navies. The earliest log recalls the travels of the Royal George to Madras and China, under the Command of Thomas Foxall from 1777 to 1779. Also notable in the series are logs from the H. M. S. Sans Pareil recalling a battle off of the coast of Groix, France in 1795 against the French fleet, and a log of proceedings kept by the H. M. S. Algiers recounting its voyage to Crimea to fight in the Crimean War in 1856.
