Series IV: Papers of Samuel Watkinson, Sr. (1745-1816), 1795 - 1815

Scope and Contents

This series primarily consists of correspondence from Samuel Watkinson Sr. (1745-1816) with associate William Meeking Jr. from 1795 to 1816, who oversaw the sale of Watkinson’s property in Lavenham and the wool business after he left. It also contains a letter addressed to his cousin, Robert Watkinson, shortly after his departure from England, dated 1796, as well as a copy of his will, a notebook, financial documents and account books, and an inventory of goods from 1790. Notably, the series also includes several manuscripts containing geometry, logarithms, and a letter book entitled, “Journal of a Journey in Canada, 1799.” Series is arranged by material type.
