Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The Robbins Winslow papers comprise three series of materials related to Winslow's employment as Dean for Educational Services at Trinity College (Hartford) and span the dates 1967 to 1996. As dean, Winslow oversaw the creation and production of Trinity's academic calendars, evaluated and approved transfer credits, coordinated the Trinity-High School Seminar Program, and directed domestic and international study exchange programs. Administrative files in the first series include correspondence, notes, and other materials pertaining to a broad range of files Winslow created during the course of his day to day work at Trinity. Of interest is an office user manual generated in 1986 for use with Trinity's administrative data systems. Though outdated, it provides insight into the depths of computing processes at the time.

The Exchange Program files contain materials related to colleges, universities, and organizations with whom Trinity College had a working relationship, both domestically and internationally. Of interest are files on Makerere University in Uganda, in which can be found a Trinity exchange student's interpretations of life at Makerere. Files also include print publications from Makerere such as course catalogues and view books. Also notable are materials related to Trinity's exchange program with Vassar College when both institutions were not yet coeducational (1968-1969), and which served as an experiment on the feasibility of coeducation at Trinity.

The Trinity Committee files contain correspondence, minutes, and reports related to various committees on which Winslow served while at Trinity. Committees include: Academic Affairs; Academic Computer Usage; Curriculum; Independent Study; Long Range Planning; ROTC; and Trinity College Council.
